Long Lost Connection
Delphi looked at the soul her mother had pointed out. The snowflake was so familiar to her, how could she not have known? She gracefully bowed to the soul who had only been in her old form for a second. "It is wonderful to meet you, grandma, I have heard so many stories from both mom and Mara."
The soul gently bobbed up and down acknowledging the young Enivi's words.
"My name is Delphi, these are my siblings! I was hoping we would be able to meet you. Would you like to hear more about us?"
The soul again gently bobbed. "Okay! I am the oldest. My current goal is to be a beast tamer. I love all the companions I get to see around the city and I want to be able to help others see how cool they are! I practice a lot with Auntie Mara to make sure I am safe when I go out into the field. I also practice with my dad. They are both really good fighters!"
Delphi tilted her head, trying to think of other things to say. Her grandmother's soul waited gently for her to continue.
"AH, yeah, I enjoy being with my friends. Our family's herd is pretty large now! We have Terra and his husband Sylvan. Terra works with mom in the forge, which I heard you taught her. I have seen some of your craft and it is beautiful! Mom does a fantastic job as well! Terra does weapon smithing, while she does the armor. Oh, there is also Ignis, he is a brat, but he helps them make combination metals. He is kind of the official metal smith; originally he was Terra's apprentice, but he enjoyed combining the metals more. As well as making art from them, but don't tell him I know that. Terra and Sylvan have a kid, their name is Sherbet. He is one of my best friends with Ios. They work together, Sherbet is a healer who uses the herbs Ios finds as a forager. We also have two Druaesi that we are friends with. We call them the witches, 'cause that is what they told us they do."
The soul twinkled and a peal of gentle laughter came to Delphi's ears, "Was that you laughing?!?" The soul bopped again, "I am glad! I feel like being a soul would get boring sometimes. I wish I could visit you more often. There are so many adventures I would tell you of, like the time Auntie went into the woods and came back with a Kalli. We still do not know how, she claims he just followed her out. Or the time that Ignis somehow just magically ended up with a weapon from another forge."
Delphi just kept rambling, she enjoyed sharing her life with her grandmother. A connection that she had always missed due to the stories her mom and aunt shared. Her grandmother was an amazing woman who did whatever she wanted. That was the reason her mom nor aunt followed the standard rules of Ortusi. It is also why they have a shop just outside of the Ortusi territory, that way they can have their star shards.
She looked around at her mom and saw a smile gracing her face. Delphi blushed, "Sorry grandma, I got excited and was rambling."
The small Vespiri that was next to her mother spoke gently, "Your grandmother does not mind, she enjoys stories. Particularly about your family."
The soul bobbed again. Delphie nodded, "Then I should tell you all about our plans for the shop!"
Delphi continued for a while talking about her plans and the family's plans. Everything from her wanting to train beast into companions to how Sherbet is starting to sell health supplies in the shop. "Maybe one day even the witches will sell stuff at the shop! Though I feel like that would get rid of the whole 'witch in the woods' vibe they got going on." Delphi finished her whole explanation and looked at the soul, it swang gently back and forth.
"What does that mean?" Delphi asked looking at Apricity.
"It's similar to you swaying along while listening. Souls often sway to show they are actively listening to you. Instead of being still which could be seen as they lost in thought."
"Ooooh, okay! I hope I filled you in on everything.... hmmm I can't think of anything else to talk about and that is rare for me. Wow." The soul slowly took shape into the Ortusi she had seen before. A beautiful blue Enivi just like her mother, some features differed though Delphi assumed that those were due to her grandfather. The soul walked closer to her and seemed to place her nose on that of the young Enivi. A familiar warmth filled her and tears came to her eyes, it was how her mother tells her she loves her; they call them nose boops. "I love you too Grandma." The soul twinkled back into a snowflake.
